Engine details: L78 425 HP 396 CI, 4-speed
Other details: 1965 Corvette Coupe, 396-425 hp, 4 speed, numbers match, 21,496 actual miles. Rally Red paint with Black interior. Very desirable color combination that is an original unrestored car in excellent condition. Triple Crown award (November 2007), NCRS Top Flight certified in 2007 and also one of 172 Corvettes to ever receive the Bloomington Benchmark award (June 2007) (12 of which were 1965's), which is the highest awards from any sanctioning body, ie: a) Bloomington Survivor, where as the National Corvette Survivor Board believes it is in the best interest of historic research to preserve this automobile in its present state as a model for Corvette restoration. b) Bloomington Gold certified where as the National Corvette Certification Board has determined on the basis of its originality and condition within 95 to 100% of typical factory production. c) The Benchmark award for those who want to know what factory original Corvettes look like. Benchmark cars appear not only restored but are also preserved within a minimum of 95% of typical production. Benchmark cars represent the standards which historians, judges, and future restorers can use to determine factory authenticity. Benchmark cars may be the sport's best link to the past and preserving Corvette's factory authentic heritage in the future. Bloomington Benchmark cars are very few (1 of 172 of all years) in the history of the Bloomington Gold show... The judging system eliminates many contenders for obvious reasons. Benchmark Corvettes are unrestored and also in showroom new condition... All Corvettes left the factory as Benchmarks but only a few remain. The Benchmark has become the most sought-after and most difficult award to achieve in the industry. This is a time capsule find and without doubt one of the purest most desirable Corvettes in the world. Unbelievably Superb. Optioned with the L78 (396-425 hp motor - 1 of 2,157 produced), teakwood wheel, telescopic, 4.56 posi, transistorized ignition, F-40 heavy duty suspension, off road exhaust, power antenna, SS brakes, AM-FM radio, C&C group, day/night mirrors, back-up lights, hubcaps, and 7.75x15" white stripe tires. Documented with the original warranty book/P.O.P. back to the original owner. Super rare low mile late production 396 Coupe VIN # 22944 built on July 13, 1965.
